PADI Snorkel Guide
Training and Assessment

Course Requirements and Prerequisites

Time and Equipment

  • Two Days Course

  • Quality Mask, Snorkel, Fins

  • Full length, Wetsuit preferability 3mm+, Booties, Wetsuit hood

  • Towel

  • Dive Flag (can be borrowed for the day)

  • Waterproof Whistle

  • Emergency communication device. (Phone/In Reach/PLB)

  • Emergency flotation device (Provided on the day)

Pre-Course Qualifications

Current:

  • HLTAID009 Provide CPR

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

  • An Australian Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Evidence of currency will need to be provided to your trainer.

If you do not have these qualifications you can join a Beyond Wilderness First Aid Course either before or after the Snorkel Instructors course to complete your training

Physical Requirements

The ability to:

  • Equalise your ears

  • Dive to a depth of 6m on a single breath.

  • Tread water with no flotation aid for 15minutes

  • Swim 800m non-stop using a mask, fins and snorkel in 15 minutes or less

  • Swim 25m Horizontally underwater on a single breath, in water too deep to stand up in.

 Conducting a PADI Snorkel Experience briefing, excursion, & debriefing - with weather, equipment and rescue scenarios.

On successful completion all theory and practical components you will be awarded the VET units:

 Conducting a PADI Snorkel Experience briefing

PADI Snorkel Guide - Practical Workshop 2

 Planning and conduct (Excursion 1 of 3) of a PADI Snorkel Experience.

Day 2

PADI Snorkel Guide - Practical Workshop 2

 Planning and conduct of a PADI Snorkel Experience (three excursions)

 Prepare equipment and participants

 Brief participants and demonstrate snorkelling techniques

 Lead and supervise snorkelling activities (including rescue scenarios)

PADI Snorkel Guide - Practical Workshop 3

 Conducting a PADI Snorkel Experience debriefing and post-experience activities
