Wilderness Ministry Training Program - Day 1 & 2
King

Monday, January 15 - Kingborough Family Church 9:00am - 4:00pm

  • Heart of the Guide - Biblical vision for shepherding

  • Personal reflection time, preparing hearts for the time

  • Team building / ice breaker

  • Introduction to Wilderness Theology (5 T’s)

  • Biblical discussion of Disciple making - Jesus, Wilderness, Disciples,

    • Master Plan of Evangelism

  • Outdoor Education Accreditation requirements in Adventure Recreation Environments

Tuesday, January 16  - Kingborough Family Church 9:00am - 4:00pm

  • Introduction to Experiential Learning

  • Jesus as an experiential teacher (The Revolutionary Communicator)

  • Transformation and Disciplemaking - the role of adventure

  • The value of risk

  • Activities (team building, low adventure)

  • S.T.IC.K

 

Wilderness Ministry Training Program - Day 3

Wednesday, January 17 - Fusion Adventure Based Learning Facility 9:30 - 4:00

  • Intentional Adventure Activities / Goal Oriented experiences

  • S.T.IC.K ideas

  • Discussion & application of Wilderness Ministry Principles

 

Wilderness Ministry Training Program - Day 4

Thursday, January 18 - Fortescue Bay - Tasman peninsula 10:30am - 3:00pm

This day involves a 40min walk to Bivouac Bay with the option to snorkel the wreak of the William Pitt.

  • Ministry in the Marine Environment

  • S.T.IC.K. examples

  • Water Safety and Planning, Remote Area Considerations, First Aid in the outdoor environment.

 

Wilderness Ministry Training Program - Day 5

Friday, January 19 - Styx Giant Tree Walk - Maydena Area 10:30am - 4:00pm

Exact location to be clarified on first day of training

  • The Tree Ministry Tool

  • Inspirational opportunities in nature

  • S.T.IC.K ideas & application

  • Discussion & application of Wilderness Ministry Principles

  • Forest Risk and management options

Those continuing to day 6 & 7 will overnight at Mt Field Campground

 

Wilderness Ministry Training Program - Day 6 & 7

Friday, January 19 - Field West or Tarn Shelf 9:00 am Saturday - 4:00pm Sunday

Exact location to be clarified during training

  • Practical example of wilderness ministry excursion

Styx Valley/Mt Field - Giant Tree Tour

Day 5 January 19

  • A short challenging overnight hike for participants interested in
    experiencing the benefits of extended wilderness experiences.

  • Participants will need to be of an appropriate age and physically capable of carrying a 15kg pack uphill for extended periods.

  • Camping equipment available if required.

(There are limited spaces available for the overnight hike option please get in early if this is a preference for you)

Day 6 & 7 January 19

What you need to provide

  • Your own transport

  • National parks pass for day 4, 5, 6 & 7

  • Note book and pen

  • You need to sign be willing to sign the activity wavier if you wish to participate on any of the outdoor activities.
